[March 16, 2011 — Sarasota, Fla.] "Sarasota's most beautiful party" celebrates the grit and glam of the roaring ‘20s at the 30th Annual Orchid Ball. This year's Ball, “The Great Gatsby,” will be held Saturday, April 2nd on Selby Gardens’ Great Lawn. The gala begins at 6:30 p.m. with mini-cosmo cocktails and succulent hors d’oeuvres under the banyan trees. Map out your silent auction strategy after you review the breathtaking orchid arrangements and gorgeous pearl jewelry.
Enter the luxurious tent and be transported back in time to an elegant setting of visual and culinary delights. Michael’s On East will provide a feast for all the senses. Dancers from the Sarasota Ballet’s apprentice corps will inspire you to brush up your Charleston and dance your cares away to the music of the DeLeon Orchestra.
After dinner, auctioneer Michael Klauber will launch a live auction featuring a custom jewelry piece by designer David Lee Holland; a stunning hand-crafted stained glass “orchid” window; dinner for ten at the Gardens’ Mansion; and more. So lift up your auction paddles: all of the proceeds from the evening benefit the Gardens’ conservation, research, and educational programs. Chair Kristiana Serbin and her committee promise the party of the year – don’t miss it!
Table sponsorships and tickets are available by calling 941-366-5731 ext. 224 or by email firstname.lastname@example.org. Individual tickets start at $250 per person. Tickets for the Orchid Ball can also be purchased online at www.selby.org. Attire is Black Tie or Gatsby-era costume.
