[Sarasota, Florida, February 15, 2012]: The 7th Annual Asian Cultural Festival will take place at Marie Selby Botanical Garden’s beautiful bayfront on Saturday and Sunday, March 17 and 18 from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. One of our most popular events, this year’s festival has even more performances and new demonstrations, including Asian inspired activities and Wellness components.
The Wellness components feature the East West School of Medicine providing diagnostics, blood pressure testing, and ear seed demonstrations. Nancy Zampella will present Yoga demonstrations for those who want to achieve relaxation and toning. Performances include the Tampa Taiko drummers, Srishti Dance Academy, Purnama Sari Dance Company, Dances From Top Of The World by Marguerite Barnett, Lion Dance by Wah Lum Kung Fu of Tampa. Other demonstrations include Mahjohng, Uechi Ryu Karate, Tai Chi by Master Cody, Chinese Astrology by Jacqueline Albert, Feng Shui by Kathy Keh, Sumi-e Paining, and Ikebana. Interactive games to entertain the entire family include a giant-sized lawn puzzle game, Tamgram by Caui Lofgern. Try your hand-to-eye coordination while playing on a King Pong Table where a team can play this over-sized ping pong game simultaneously. There are also several speakers including Bonzai cultivation and the Sarna Sisters, who will provide a lecture and walking tour of the art sculptures her family donated to the Gardens. Don’t miss the Japanese Lamps exhibit and sale in the Christy Payne Mansion.
