Marie Selby Botanical Gardens Presents Rainforest Masks 2012 Exhibition and Sale

 [February 15, 2012, Sarasota, Florida]:  Back by popular demand, Marie Selby Botanical Gardens and La Vista Verde Present the 8th Annual “Rainforest Masks 2012” Exhibit and Sale.  

These unique and striking masks designed by Borucan Indians of Costa Rica will be showcased in Selby’s Museum of Botany and the Arts from March 9 through April 20, 2012, from 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. daily.

Meet the Artists sessions will take place in Selby’s Museum on March 10, 11, 17, and 18 from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. Take advantage of this opportunity to meet the Borucan artists and watch them carve and paint these incredible, one-of-a-kind masks.  (A Spanish speaker will be available to interpret your questions).

C.J. Shelley of La Vista Verde will present a lecture entitled, “The Road to Boruca and Beyond” in the Cooley Theater at Selby Gardens on March 14 from noon to 1:00 p.m.  This free lecture will include a travelogue with images of Costa Rica and the indigenous village of Boruca.
