Thanks to generous financial assistance from Selby Board Trustee Sandy Rederer, the Great Room by the Bay, a popular meeting facility and private event venue, will undergo significant cosmetic renovations this summer. The Great Room showcases 60-feet of glass windows facing west for spectacular bay and sunset views. Milton Schenk, LLC, Tandem Construction and Fawley-Bryant Architects are also generously contributing pro bono services to the project.
“These improvements will help Selby Gardens remain competitive and successful in attracting prime wedding and event rental income,” stated Selby Gardens CEO Thomas Buchter. “The revenue from private functions provides much needed support for ongoing operations.”
The renovations will occur in July and August and will literally encompass “floor-to-ceiling” improvements. The existing patterned carpet will be replaced with an attractive floor covering that is both high performing enough to support high traffic use and versatile enough to compliment any themed décor. The facility interiors will receive a thorough lighter, brighter make over. The result will be a fresh, white finish for a backdrop that can accommodate any event style. Ceiling tiles and lighting fixtures will be replaced throughout the Great Room. An exciting feature addition will be billowing kite shapes assembled within a ceiling alcove that can be accented with colored spotlight lenses for drama and effect. Additionally, new fixtures and lights will update and accent the restroom areas.
We are extremely grateful for the support and craftsmanship of our many community partners on this project. For more details or to book a special event, email email@example.com.
