Abstract:
The conservation potential of sustainable management of tropical forests has been insufficiently studied. The potential synergies of conservation and forestry are not only enormous, but absolutely necessary to the survival of unprotected tropical forests. Political, economic, industrial, social and ecological criteria must be integrated into sustainable tropical forestry. Some examples of tropical forest management are highlighted. Tropical forests outside of protected areas are doomed if we do not find sustainable uses for these globally important natural resources.
